IIRE Youth School 2015: building a movement of anti-capitalist youth
20 August 2015School ended on 31 August. Around 20 activists gathered for ten days to discuss politics and study issues facing the anti-capitalists today.
The program included topics such as the development of marxist thought, the euro-crisis, the role of imperialism in the Middle-East and beyond, and questions of political organizing.
2015 IIRE International Women’s Seminar: Connecting feminist activism worldwide
3 July 2015Women’s Seminar 2015 assembled successfully at IIRE from 4th to 8th July. Organized by the women’s commission of the Fourth International , the seminar was attended by 30 women from 12 countries. Apart from Western European countries, there were participants from Philippines, Mexico, and the USA. The participants came from wide range of ages, from 17 to 70.

We want to strengthen our analysis and theory in order better to participate in current discussions in the feminist movement and also integrate the different generations of women members of the Fourth International in these debates.
Debate - Humanity lost at sea: The regularity of deaths in the Mediterranean
27 June 2015In the first four months of 2015, 1,770 Africans and Asians drowned on their way to Europe. With the death toll in the Mediterranean rising by the thousands, the European Union has showed once again that it is ready to pay the price of lives lost at sea in order to maintain the myth of sovereignty over its borders.

François Vercammen
16 June 2015François Vercammen, a fellow of the IIRE and a Belgian leader of the Fourth International (FI), died at age of 69, on June 16, 2015
François, together with Pierre Rousset, was instrumental in establishing the International Institute for Research and Education in Amsterdam. From 1982 to 1985,he was one of the co-directors of the IIRE. As director of the IIRE's Brussels research centre he worked especially on developing links between leftist forces across Europe and studying the development of the European Union.
