The past summer, the IIRE again organized a Youth School and a Women's seminar.
First up was the Women’s Seminar which took place 13-17 July.
In the coming weeks, we will publish two new books; a political memoir of a central leader of the Fourth International, Livio Maitan, and a new, considerably enlarged edition of ''Marxism after Auschwitz'' by Enzo Traverso.
We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our friend James Donald Cockcroft on 16 April, 2019. James was a fellow of the IIRE, a scholar, activist, and author of many books, especially on Latin American politics. He lived his life to the fullest, writing and engaged in activism until his illness prevented him from continuing. We wish his loved ones, especially his partner and former IIRE co-director, Susan Caldwell strenght in dealing with this loss.
On May 9, the IIRE is hosting a discussion around ‘Feminism for the 99 %. A manifesto’ with three speakers:
Tithi Bhattacharya is one of the authors of the manifesto. Inspired by the new wave of feminist activism worldwide, Tithi and her co-authors Cinzia Arruzza and Nancy Fraser argue that feminism should not start – or stop – with the drive to have women represented at the top of their professions. Rather, feminism must focus on those at the bottom, and fight for the world they deserve.
