On November 6 we lost our friend and comrade Paul Mepschen. Paul was for many years a supporter of the IIRE.
Paul was an anthropologist, teaching at Univerity College Utrecht and a committed socialist. In his scholarly work and in his activism issues of belonging, racism and sexuality were central. He had been editor of the socialist journal Grenzeloos and was always looking for ways to stimulate anti-capitalist and radical politics. Scholarship and activism went hand in hand for him. He was an enthusiastic teacher who believed in the emancipatory role of education. As a scholar, he was well known for his writings on sexual nationalism. We will miss his sharp mind, his wit and his warmth.
