Last month saw the launch of Feminism for 99%'s Dutch translation. Reason enough to present this manifesto at the first meeting in a series of 'Grenzeloos gesprekken' on 27 October. The manifesto has now been translated into more than 20 languages. It rejects the liberal feminism of the 1%, which aims to break the glass ceiling for a limited group of (mostly white) heterosexual women. Feminism for the 99% advocates a feminism that is on the side of the majority of women: workers, migrants, lesbians and transgender women.
The past summer, the IIRE again organized a Youth School and a Women's seminar.
First up was the Women’s Seminar which took place 13-17 July.
We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our friend James Donald Cockcroft on 16 April, 2019. James was a fellow of the IIRE, a scholar, activist, and author of many books, especially on Latin American politics. He lived his life to the fullest, writing and engaged in activism until his illness prevented him from continuing. We wish his loved ones, especially his partner and former IIRE co-director, Susan Caldwell strenght in dealing with this loss.
