Red meets green in the Ecosocialist School 2013

24 November 2013

The second 'ecosocialist school' organized by the IIRE was a successful, truly international meeting.
The final large activity of the IIRE in 2013 was the second 'ecosocialist school'. Each year, we organize several educational activities, the largest of which is a three-week school for political activists. Reflecting the increasing importance of the ecological question for progressive activists, we drew up a new program for our three-week school a couple of years ago and renamed it the 'ecosocialist school'.

support the IIRE's Women's Seminar

30 June 2013

The IIRE organises in July its Fourth International Women’s Seminar together with the women’s commission of the Fourth International.

Participants from all over the world will discuss women’s struggles for emancipation in different cultures, regions, visions and social contexts. Overcoming euro-centrism by developing a plural feminism is one of the aims of this global exchange.

The ecofeminist struggles and an ecofeminist world view is the second topic of the seminar: putting a women’s prospective to our ecosocialist alternative.

Clean Clothes Campaign

18 April 2013

Last April, the Clean Clothes Campaign held a series of workshops and a seminar at the IIRE from the 18th until the 23rd of April. We had planned a short article and interview with the organisers. But then the catastrophe in Dhaka, Bangladesh arrived.

Instead of an article, we publish the urgent appeal by the Clean Clothes Campaign: www.cleanclothes.org/news

Lively discussion with Anja Meulenbelt

30 October 2013

On invitation of TENK, a network of left-wing activists and scholars, Dutch socialist-feminist Anja Meulenbelt came to the IIRE to speak about her current project, a new book on the left and feminism. Meulenbelt looked back at the second wave of feminism in the Netherlands in which she played a prominent role and her classic 1976 book 'Feminisme en Socialisme'.
